Though it may seem that crash or fad diets and tough exercises can help you lose weight instantly, they really don’t help in the long run. In fact, when it comes to changing eating habits and lifestyle, your body likes slow changes. So, if you want to shed a few kilos in a healthy way, you might consider following these tips for getting started –

  • Make changes to your eating habits – Instead of following a whole new diet plan, consider avoiding or at least consuming minimum added sugars, starches, dairy products and animal fats. Include fresh vegetables and fruits, as well as egg whites, fishes, and soy products in your diet. Drink plenty of water as it helps in weight loss significantly. Also, try to have homemade food and avoid having junk food as much as possible.
  • Make gradual changes and stick to whatever you are following – Small changes lead to big differences. If you have not exercised in your whole life, don’t start following a tough exercise regime instantly. Rather, begin small and step up gradually. Also, it is very important to opt for a diet plan and an exercise regime that you can follow in the long run.
  • Increase your exercise level – Even if you are sick of exercises, there is really no other option as only a perfect combination of balanced diet and proper exercises can help you lose weight efficiently and ensure that the weight thus lost stays lost. However, it doesn’t necessarily mean joining a gym. You can get trained at home under the watchful eyes of a physical trainer. You can also get an exercise buddy to stay motivated. Those who have never exercised before can get started at home with simple exercises like jogging or sit-ups for 10-15 minutes. You can also go for a morning or evening walk for 30 minutes, thrice a week. However, it’s best to consult your doctor or a certified trainer before starting exercises, especially if you have some health issues.
